Reece Oxford spent the first half of the season on loan at Borussia Monchengldbach from West Ham United.

The 19-year-old made just four appearances for the Bundesliga giants during a loan spell which lasted for the first half of the season before David Moyes decided to recall the England youth international.
But Gladbach have remained interested in keeping Oxford after he started, and excelled, in the German side’s four games prior to the Christmas break. He featured for the Hammers for 65 minutes of their extra-time win over Shrewsbury Town.

However, with the breakthrough talent of Declan Rice and Reece Burke’s goal on Tuesday night, Oxford is just one of an abundance of central defenders. The Hammers also boast Winston Reid, Jose Fonte, James Collins and Angelo Ogbonna.
It could mean that one of those players are made expendable, and in turn could see Oxford allowed to rejoin Gladbach if he is indeed guaranteed first-team football.
Reece Burke scores.
Oxford rose to prominence as a 16-year-old, making his debut in Slaven Bilic’s first West Ham game in charge during a 2-0 win over London rivals Arsenal in which Oxford marked Mesut Ozil out of the game.
It remains to be seen if Gladbach will take Oxford on loan until the end of the season, or look to push through a permanent deal this month. He has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current London Stadium contract.
