Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has ruled out a potential move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Newcastle United, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Newcastle had been hoping to sign Loftus-Cheek in the January transfer window, as they felt he could improve their midfield options.
The England youth international has struggled to receive regular game time at Chelsea this season, and Newcastle felt that a loan move would have suited all parties.
However, Conte does not want to lose Loftus-Cheek in January, as the 20-year-old still has a role to play at Stamford Bridge.
Loftus-Cheek is one of the most exciting prospects currently breaking through at Chelsea, and he is very highly regarded.
The powerful midfielder has made just four appearances for Chelsea this season, though, with more experienced options generally favoured by Conte.
Newcastle are now set to look elsewhere on their hunt for additions, with Everton’s James McCarthy another name reportedly on their wishlist.
