Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly missed out in the race for the German international.
According to a report from German publication Kicker, Tottenham Hotspur have missed out on the signing of Borrusia Dortmund player Matthias Ginter, with the 23-year-old opting to switch to fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.
The versatile defender has been on international duty with Germany during their Confederations Cup campaign. But he can now focus on domestic matters, and the latest report suggests he is keen to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.

Kicker claims that despite a lucrative offer from Tottenham, Ginter wants to join Monchengladbach, and the transfer could be completed in the next few days.
This comes after the Daily Mail claimed Tottenham had already enquired over a possible £18million switch for Ginter, and the news that he has opted to remain in his homeland is likely to divide the Spurs faithful.
Some fans did not think Ginter was worth the effort or the outlay, while others saw his age and his ability to play in a number of different positions as enough to warrant a move.
As it is, it seems Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will be waiting a little longer to complete his first new signing of the summer, with another striker and an additional winger likely to be high on his wish list.
It could be argued that in contrast, a move for Ginter was unnecessary, yet now it seems the player himself has taken that particular option off the table.
