According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are looking to bring Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean to Ibrox in 2021.

It’s claimed that Steven Gerrard has been keeping tabs on McLean’s situation, and knows he is in and out of the Canaries side.

Rangers are now plotting a January deal, either by offering cash or a loan-to-buy deal that would see McLean join permanently in the summer of 2021.

The 28-year-old only signed a new deal in September, which keeps him tied to Norwich until the summer of 2023.

However, he has only started four Championship games this season, and having helped Scotland to the European Championships next summer, he may now look to move on for playing time.

Rangers do though have a host of midfielders; Steven Davis, Bongani Zungu, Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo are all Gerrard’s disposal, so it remains to be seen whether another midfielder is a priority in January.

McLean was linked with a move to Rangers in 2017, with Pedro Caixinha keen to lure him to bring him to Ibrox from Aberdeen according to The Scottish Sun, but no move materialised.

More than three years on, Rangers could return for McLean, who grew up supporting the Gers and regularly went to Ibrox as a kid, meaning the move could really appeal to him.
