Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Jermain Defoe to Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard would love to push the boat out in order to sign Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe.
Defoe, 36, will be allowed to leave Bournemouth this month according to Sky Sports, after finding first-team football hard to come by at the Vitality Stadium.
The veteran striker is now available, and a host of clubs will no doubt be keen to land him, but Rangers is a name regularly linked with a move for Defoe.
The Scottish Sun note that boss Gerrard wanted to sign Defoe over the summer, but his wages prevented any potential deal being done.
With Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race, Gerrard is now thought to be interested in pushing the boat out to sign Defoe this month.
However, it’s again noted that Defoe’s wages are a ‘huge’ problem for Rangers, and may once again stop them from reuniting Gerrard with the striker.

The duo played together for England, and that prior relationship may just give Rangers an edge over other interested clubs.
Yet with wages a problem, it may simply be a deal that Rangers can’t pull off, even if they are desperate for another striker after ending Umar Sadiq’s loan spell early.
