According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers want to sign ex-Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe from Anderlecht if they lose Alfredo Morelos.
It’s claimed that Rangers fear losing Morelos this summer, and are already looking at potential replacements in case he does move on.
One of them is Roofe, with the report claiming that Rangers actually wanted to sign him from Leeds last summer – but they lost out as Anderlecht landed him for £7million.
Steven Gerrard is allegedly planning to make a second move for Roofe if Morelos moves on, with Rangers seemingly ready to reinvest in that scenario.
Roofe, 27, has endured injury problems this season, but has still managed to rack up seven goals and three assists in just 16 appearances for Anderlecht.
In his one season under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, Roofe smashed 15 goals and two assists in 34 games, showing his quality as a central striker.

Roofe may well return to Britain at some point, and Rangers may hope he’s ready this summer, but he may feel there is some unfinished business with Anderlecht after an injury-hit debut season.
The major factor in Rangers’ favour is that Roofe headed to Belgium to play European football, but Anderlecht endured a dismal season.
Rangers will be able to offer Europa League football when Anderlecht can’t, and that could just tempt Roofe to Ibrox after all – if Morelos goes.
