According to Sky Italia (via The Scottish Sun), Rangers remain interested in signing Sampdoria’s Jakub Jankto, who was of interest to them over the summer.

The 27-cap Czech Republic international scored a great goal against Genoa at the weekend, and Steven Gerrard remains keen on the midfielder having missed out in the last transfer window.

Interestingly, The Scottish Sun‘s report also mentions that Jankto has been of interest to Arsenal and AC Milan in the past – those two historic clubs don’t just sign anybody.

The 24-year-old has scored two goals in five Serie A outings so far this season, while also grabbing an assist.

If Gerrard does manage to bring Jankto to Ibrox, Rangers’ midfield department would look rather well-populated.

The ex-Liverpool captain already had Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield and summer signing Bongani Zungu to select from in midfield.

That could potentially result in a number of those aforementioned options being disappointed, as only two centre-midfielders can be selected for that system.

Rangers currently sit nine points above Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, although they have played two games more than their bitter rivals.
