Steven Gerrard will speak to James Tavernier before deciding what to do with George Edmundson and Jordan Jones.

Edmundson and Jones have recently been suspended by the club for breaching coronavirus rules, but they may yet receive further punishment from the club.

Gerrard stated that the pair will be punished and dealt with internally once their isolation period is over. But the Scottish Sun is reporting that he will speak to club captain Tavernier before making a decision on that front.

The manager’s comments on the situation hinted that he is ready to forgive and forget the incident. But it seems a lot hinges on Tavernier’s view of the situation.

“The important thing from my point of view is we draw a line under that.

“I don’t want to be sitting here kicking them even more. They are obviously feeling really down.” Gerrard said.

It is certainly a tough decision for the manager to make.

These two aren’t the first footballers to breach regulations, but the gaffer needs to make sure they are the last at Ibrox.

The duo need to learn their lesson no matter what is decided between Gerrard and Tavernier. But the Gers boss’s comments do hint that he is keen to take a more lenient approach.

This is a big test of the Liverpool legend’s man-management, and he needs to act with caution as acting too strictly or too lightly could unsettle the dressing room to some extent. After the Glasgow outfit’s incredible start to the season, that is the last thing he needs.

Hopefully, Gerrard and Tavernier manage to figure out how to handle this complex situation.
