Rangers are reportedly set to send Jake Hastie out on loan.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the Scottish Premier League match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on May 05, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are already planning to loan out winger Jake Hastie this summer – before he’s even kicked a ball for the club.

The Gers swooped to land Hastie on a pre-contract agreement from Motherwell last month, having seen him hit seven goals in 15 games in the second half of the season.

Hastie impressed with his size, speed and eye for goal, and Rangers snapped up him up, with many believing that he would challenge Daniel Candeias for a starting role out wide.

However, Steven Gerrard allegedly doesn’t want to stunt Hastie’s development now Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo could be joining, and will instead look to loan out the 20-year-old.

Hastie hasn’t even pulled on a Rangers shirt yet, but he may be set to spend the season away from Ibrox in a move which will surprise many.

The winger has emerged as one of the top young talents in Scottish football in 2019, and signing him seemed to be a signal of intent from Rangers, adding him to Gerrard’s attacking options.

Now, despite impressing in the Scottish Premiership already, Hastie looks poised to move on, and we may see him head to an English club for development purposes, just like Greg Docherty at Shrewsbury Town.

Scottish clubs will be keen too, but many Rangers fans will be stunned that Hastie is already being lined up for a temporary Ibrox exit without even kicking a ball under Gerrard.
