German newspaper Bild claim Leeds are in talks with second-tier Bundesliga side Hamburg over a move for Crysencio Summerville. Hamburg want a player ‘beyond the summer’, suggesting a permanent deal.

Summerville, 20, has been afforded eight senior appearances for Leeds this season as Marcelo Bielsa continues to place faith in his young stars. But Bild claim that the Dutch wonderkid is frustrated at his lack of game time.

That has attracted interest from Hamburg – and numerous clubs from his home country. Summerville has entered the last 18 months of the contract he signed following his £1.3million (Sun) move from Dutch side Feyenoord.

Bild claim that Leeds and Hamburg are in talks for Summerville. It is believed Hamburg want a long-term signing – suggesting a long-term loan deal or a permanent move. Summerville is said to be keen on the move.

Hamburg eye Summerville: Leeds talent might benefit from move

Hamburg sit in fifth place in Germany’s second tier and are certainly within the hunt for promotion. A move to Hamburg massively improves Summerville’s chances of game time – but of course, they might not go up.

Either way, it would see Summerville join a massive club in German football that will eventually gain promotion – given the finances of the club compared to their rivals. Or, he will catch the eye, playing regularly.

German football might suit Summerville, which is largely based on attacking football at an intense pace. It will be interesting to see if Leeds allow him to leave permanently, or extend his contract ahead of a loan.
