Marseille winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is set to join Tottenham.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou at Marseille
According to The Mirror, Marseille winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou insisted upon joining Tottenham – and the French club had otherwise planned to sell him to another club for less than the £11m Spurs are paying.
Nkoudou, 21, joined Marseille from Nantes last summer, where he had emerged as one of the most promising young talents in French football with three goals in 40 games.

Last term, Nkoudou struck five goals and three assists in Ligue 1 for Marseille, and his appearances seem to have convinced Tottenham to make a move for the player.
With Mauricio Pochettino looking for a pacey winger, Nkoudou looks to be heading to White Hart Lane, as Sky Sports report that a deal is close to completion.

Nkoudou’s deal should be announced imminently, and details about the move are emerging. The Mirror report that Nkoudou has insisted on signing for Tottenham, and cash-strapped Marseille have decided to grant his wish.
Intriguingly though, The Mirror’s report – centred around how English clubs are being charged higher prices by foreign clubs – claims that Marseille had actually planned to sell Nkoudou to another European side for a fee lower than the £11m Spurs have agreed.

Time will tell whether Tottenham have overpaid for Nkoudou, but in the grand scheme of things, £11m isn’t too much of a gamble for Spurs, considering that they’re back in the Champions League and have a coach who is known for developing young players in Pochettino.
Premier League rivals are spending much more than £11m on players, and Nkoudou certainly showed potential with Marseille last season – meaning that despite the claims that Marseille were planning to sell Nkoudou for less than £11m, he may well be worth much more than that in the coming years.
