Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have faced competition for George Edmundson, but Steven Gerrard seems to have got his man.

Glasgow Rangers are now set to sign George Edmundson from Oldham Athletic, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.

Rangers have been battling to land Edmundson for much of the summer so far, with the centre-back very much in demand.

It seems that Steven Gerrard has got his man now though, with Edmundson poised to move to Rangers in the near future.

Both Peterborough United and Portsmouth had wanted Edmundson, but Rangers have fought off competition from the League One duo to land him.

Edmundson could now make the move to Ibrox sooner rather than later with Rangers very busy in the transfer market so far.

Gerrard’s men have already brought in a host of new faces, and Edmundson’s arrival could follow Sheyi Ojo’s move from Liverpool.

There is no guarantee that Edmundson will be a starter at Rangers next season, but he could offer Gerrard’s side more depth at centre-back, which could be key next term.
