Valencia’s Geoffrey Kondogbia reportedly doesn’t want to join Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia wants to stay with Valencia rather than join Tottenham Hotspur in 2018.
Kondogbia, 24, emerged as a star with Sevilla and Monaco, eventually moving on to Inter Milan in 2015, where he struggled to live up to his potential before being loaned out to Valencia over the summer.
Since heading to Spain, Kondogbia has thrived with Valencia, notching three goals and one assist in 12 games for Marcelino’s men in an impressive campaign.
Earlier this week, Sky Sports reported that Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing Kondogbia as they look to bring in a successor to Mousa Dembele in midfield, but the situation isn’t exactly easy.
Valencia have an option to buy Kondogbia, which they can activate at any time, and Marca report that manager Marcelino is pushing for the club to secure a €25million (£22million) deal for the Frenchman.
The report adds that Kondogbia is enjoying life with Valencia so much that he wants to stay at the Estadio Mestalla rather than make a move to Tottenham, or even North London rivals Arsenal.
That means that Tottenham may end up having to look elsewhere for Dembele’s successor, with a midfielder who can drive forward through the middle of the park being pursued.
