Everton are reportedly closing in on Mainz star Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

According to Sky Germany, Mainz midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is close to a €30million (£27million) move to Everton, with a medical likely tomorrow.
Everton have sold Idrissa Gueye to Paris Saint-Germain this week, and finding a replacement has been a priority for Marcel Brands and Marco Silva.
Gbamin was immediately reported as a preferred signing last week, and it’s now claimed that there are only a few details needed to be sorted before he can be announced as a new Everton player.
A five-year deal is allegedly on the table for Gbamin, and he is expected to undergo his medical with the Toffees on Thursday as his move to England moves closer.
Gbamin, 23, has been starring in Germany with Mainz since joining from Lens in 2016, and appears to have been on Brands’ radar for some time.
The Ivorian is big, strong, quick, good on the ball and a fine reader of the game, meaning he makes perfect sense as a replacement for Gueye.

If the price in this report is correct, he’ll arrive for just about the same price as Gueye left for, which represents strong business given that Gbamin is much younger.
With Moise Kean closing in on a move too, Everton are nearing two exciting signings – and more could yet follow before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
