Kane had damaged his ankle, but Southgate wants to throw the striker in at the deep end and have him in England’s starting line-up on Friday evening.

Kane scored for Spurs in their 1-1 draw against Arsenal, and managed to last for just over an hour at the Emirates Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Kane is ready to start for England, and the Spurs boss insists that he is not concerned that the 23-year-old is being rushed back to fitness.

Southgate now reportedly intends to keep a close eye on Kane in training, but his intention is start the Spurs striker from the off at Wembley.

England need a win at Scotland to strengthen their qualification bid, following a draw with Slovenia in their last outing.
