According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Gareth Bale’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain to say the least, with Premier League duo Tottenham and Manchester United both thought to be leading the race for his signature.

The Wales international joined Madrid from Spurs in the summer of 2013, for a then world record fee of £85.3 million, but it could be argued that he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations during his time in the Spanish capital.

He has still produced impressive numbers, however, with 88 goals and 57 assists to his name in 189 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos.

Bale still has four years remaining on his current deal with Madrid, but with reports suggesting that the Spanish giants are chasing Neymar, he could be made available this summer.

Don Balon claims that if the Welsh wizard does leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, his preferred destination is Tottenham, rather than Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino is currently overseeing an incredibly exciting project at Spurs, and if he manages to bring Bale to the club this summer, it could turn out to be the signing that helps elevate Tottenham to that elusive next level.

It is unclear as to how much Madrid would expect for Bale’s signature, and it could all hinge on how desperate they are to bring Neymar to the Bernabeu.
