Gareth Bale has been linked with a sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur in recent times.

According to the Daily Express, Gareth Bale will disappoint the clutch of Premier League clubs chasing him, including Tottenham Hotspur, by telling them he wants to stay with Real Madrid.

Madrid are open to selling Bale should a side pay a fee for the Welshman, but he does not want to leave.

Bale is said to have no plans to return to England, which could leave Spurs fans disappointed.

Tottenham supporters have dreamed of a return for Bale, and there have been rumours that he could make a switch back to them in recent transfer windows.

Spurs have almost built their new stadium, which should mean that they have more funds to focus on buying new players in the coming windows.

Bale would certainly be a marquee addition to welcome a new era at Tottenham, but it seems that the dream is now over.

Whether Spurs realistically had any chance of landing Bale is very much up for debate, but the Welshman’s desire to stay in Spain, means that any hopes have now been extinguished.
