Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi is likely to play for their under-23 side this evening against Bolton Wanderers, according to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Berardi has been out with a hamstring injury since August, and his recovery has been treated with caution.

The right-back has been back in training for over a week now, but he is yet to be included in a first-team squad.

Leeds have been solid in Berardi’s absence, and he could find it difficult to break back into the starting line-up.

Berardi was arguably Leeds’ most consistent player last term, but Luke Ayling has impressed in his absence.

If Berardi makes it through tonight’s match, he looks likely to feature in Leeds’ match day squad for their next match after the international break.

The Whites have a match on Derby County at the iPro Stadium in two weekends’ time, and they will be looking to build on their strong run of form – which has seen them win five of their last six matches.
