Middlesbrough are on the lookout for a new manager but is Gabriel Batistuta the answer?

Boro have been in search of a new manager since parting ways with Tony Pulis earlier this week. Boro finished just one point below sixth-placed Derby County and their failure to get into the playoffs cost Pulis his job.
Former England international Jonathan Woodgate has been heavily linked with the job at Boro but Batistuta’s interest in the role could change things.
The club’s minimum target next season would be to make it into the playoffs and Boro will have to get their managerial appointment right to have any chance of getting anywhere near the playoffs.
The Argentine has completed his coaching badges but is yet to manage a club in his career. Batistuta had a stellar playing career with the likes of Fiorentina and AS Roma but his inexperience in management makes him a massive gamble.

However, Boro’s biggest problem this season has been with the lack of goals scored. Tony Pulis’ side managed just 49 goals in the Championship, the worst record among the top 15 teams in the league.
Batistuta’s appointment could potentially have a positive impact on their attack and the Argentine’s incredible goalscoring record over the years could change Boro’s fortunes in the Championship next season.
