Everton want Olivier Giroud, but Arsenal want Alexis Sanchez’s future to be settled first.
But they could face a wait, with The Mirror reporting Arsenal will only sanction Giroud’s sale once Alexis Sanchez’s future has been settled.
Olivier Giroud
The £140,000 per week Chile international has so far refused a contract which would double his wages, and is feared to be holding out for a move to Manchester City.
Sanchez has only one year remaining on his contract, and Arsenal are in a tough position, fearing losing him for nothing next summer.
Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez… uncertain future
While Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival eases some of the pressure on the Gunners, Arsenal do not want to consider letting both Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez leave.
The Mirror report Sanchez’s representatives will hold talks with Arsenal later this week, while he remains on holiday after his involvement at the Confederations Cup.
This could edge Giroud towards Everton if Sanchez commits to Arsenal, but their path to sign the Frenchman is far from straightforward.
