Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle is wanted by Fulham again.

According to The Mirror, Fulham may turn their attention to Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle if they can’t secure the signature of teammate Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The Cottagers have tied up deals for Nice duo Maxime Le Marchand and Jean Seri, whilst Besiktas goalkeeper Fabricio is close to a move to Craven Cottage too.
Yet the big position for Slavisa Jokanovic to fill is in attack, as loan striker Mitrovic has returned to Newcastle after the expiration of his loan deal, in which he scored 12 goals in 20 games.
The Mirror now report that whilst Fulham have agreed personal terms with the Serbian hitman, talks with Newcastle aren’t exactly progressing well, and that may force them to turn their attention to teammate Gayle.
Gayle was a rumoured target for Fulham last summer but couldn’t secure a deal, and he could end up back on Jokanovic’s radar this summer.
The 28-year-old has proven himself as a top Championship player having hit 23 goals in Newcastle promotion-winning campaign in the 2016-17 season, but found the net only six times last term.

There are questions over Gayle’s suitability for Premier League football, but Fulham would seemingly be interested in handing Walthamstow-born Gayle a return to London, two years after he left Crystal Palace.
Yet if Fulham are struggling to agree terms with Newcastle over Mitrovic – a player Rafael Benitez has little interest in keeping – then expecting any better over Gayle may be a mistake.
