Fulham are reportedly interested in Celtic’s Dedryck Boyata.
According to The Scottish Sun, Fulham are interested in bringing Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata back to the Premier League this summer.
The Cottagers are focusing on signing loan stars Matt Targett, Oliver Norwood, Tomas Kalas, Lucas Piazon and Aleksandar Mitrovic, but manager Slavisa Jokanovic will also be looking elsewhere.
Whilst Tim Ream and Denis Odoi formed a centre back pairing to win promotion, Marcelo Djalo’s lack of impact means that Fulham are lacking depth and competition in the heart of defence.
Now, The Scottish Sun report that Fulham are the latest club to register an interest in signing Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata as they look to take advantage of his contract situation.
Boyata, 27, is out of contract next summer and is yet to even come close to signing a new deal with Celtic, meaning the Bhoys may be forced to sell him this summer while they still can.
The Belgian international may have been inconsistent since joining Celtic from Manchester City in 2015, but he has excelled for Belgium at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, sparking interest.
Lazio have been attempting to sign Boyata having lost Stefan de Vrij to Inter Milan, but Fulham are now ready to challenge them by offering the centre back a return to the Premier League.
A decision is unlikely whilst Boyata is still at the World Cup, but Fulham will be hoping that he chooses to reunite with former Bhoys teammate Stefan Johansen in West London this summer.
