Fulham are hoping that their increased offer may be enough to land Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Ivan Cavaleiro.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (30/06; 20:28), Fulham are plotting to increase their bid for Wolves star Ivan Cavaleiro, with the Premier League newbies set to offer Nuno Espirito Santo’s side £14 million for the Portuguese.

The 24-year-old played a crucial role in Wolves’ promotion to the top flight last season, scoring nine goals and contributing 12 assists in the Championship. And his form has attracted a lot of attention.

The Daily Mirror reports that Fulham are to make a new offer – the Express and Star reported earlier this week that the Cottagers’ bid of £12 million was rejected – while Huddersfield Town have also seen an offer turned down this summer.

And now the Daily Mirror reports on their live transfer blog (30/06; 20:28) that Fulham are now planning to offer £14 million in the hope that they can complete what would be a club-record move to Craven Cottage.

Given that Wolves have rejected bids of just £2 million less, it would be a surprise if they were much happier about Fulham’s latest planned offer as they would still be considering selling a key man to a side that they will certainly be looking to finish above next season.

Wolves kick off their top flight campaign at home to Everton, while Fulham also mark their return to England’s top table with a home game as they host Crystal Palace. The two sides’ first meeting of the season comes on Boxing Day, where Cavaleiro could perhaps be coming up against a former club if Fulham’s pursuit proves successful.
