Fulham are reportedly set to activate the release clause of Boca Juniors midfielder Wilmar Barrios.

According to ESPN Colombia and Marca Claro, Fulham are ready to activate the £16million release clause in the contract of Boca Juniors midfielder Wilmar Barrios.
Few fans in England will have known much about Barrios entering 2018, but he has been linked with so many Premier League clubs – and made himself a villain against England a the World Cup – that he has become quite the prominent name this summer.
The 24-year-old, who headbutted Jordan Henderson in the Colombia v England World Cup clash yet somehow escaped a red card, has impressed in Argentina since joining Boca from Deportes Tolima in 2016, playing a key role in holding midfield.
A combative, battling midfielder who has even earned comparisons to N’Golo Kante, Barrios has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs even just this week.
Clarin reported that Chelsea and long-standing admirers Tottenham were looking to sign Barrios, whilst Everton were at the front of the queue having already initiated contact with Boca about a deal.
Now though, they all could miss out, as ESPN Colombia and Marca Claro report that Fulham are actually ready to pay his release clause and bring him to Craven Cottage.

Marca’s report notes a ’16 million dollar’ release clause, but with Clarin claiming the clause is €18million – or £16million – that may simply be a mistake, with £16million seemingly the real price.
Fulham have already splashed out for one midfielder this summer having signed Jean Seri from Nice, and they could land another huge coup if they do push through a deal for World Cup villain Barrios.
