Fulham plan to scout SPAL defender Francesco Vicari, Di Marzio reports.

The 22-year-old has impressed in his first season with the Serie B side, keeping 12 clean sheets from 31 outings to help them to the brink of going up as champions.

Serie A pair Chievo and Sassuolo are already said keen on Vicari, although Fulham’s interest may appeal to the centre-back, with the Cottagers in promotion contention themselves.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s team are among the most eye-catching in the Championship this season, but have the second worst defence of any of the league’s top seven clubs.

Nevertheless, the Mirror reports (5 May, page 58) that Fulham have already opened talks with Chelsea regarding a permanent deal for the on loan Tomas Kalas, who plays in Vicari’s position.
