Fulham have held talks with Ryan Babel’s representatives as they look to bring the Dutch international back for a second spell at Craven Cottage, as reported by Fanatik.

When the West London outfit spent over £100 million on new signings during the 2018/19 season, it’s fair to say they did not expect to be tumbling out of the Premier League at the first time of asking.

But Babel, a well-travelled veteran who has played the best football of his career since turning 30, was perhaps the best of the staggering 16 additions Fulham made during that short-lived spell in the top flight.

Only Aleksandar Mitrovic and the now-retired Andre Schurrle scored more Premier League goals than the former Liverpool forward, even if Babel only arrived at the Cottage during the January transfer window.

“Ryan Babel has been fantastic for us,” coach Scott Parker told Football London in April 2019.

“But we like him a lot and if there’s a possibility of signing a player of his calibre, he’d be top of the list.”

16 months on, Parker could finally get his wish.

Fanatik claims that Fulham have approached Babel’s agent about a potential return to the English capital, with Galatasaray making it clear that the 63-time international has no future in Istanbul.

And, just to set pulses racing in West London, the report adds that Babel would love to play in Britain again before he calls a time on his nomadic career.
