Turkish outlet Fanatik claim Fulham have joined Leeds and Newcastle in the race to sign Trabzonspor captain Ugurcan Cakir this summer. The Turkish goalkeeper has recently spoken of his desire to move to England.

Cakir, 26, has just won the SuperLig title with Trabzonspor – with two games still to play, his side sit nine points clear. Clocking up 40 appearances this season, he has kept 13 clean sheets and conceded just 38 goals.

Now Turkey’s number one stopper, he has 18 caps to his name. Last week, Fanatik reported that Leeds had held talks with his agent over a move while Newcastle are also keen. However, Fulham have joined the race for Cakir.

The latest report states that Fulham have joined Leeds and Newcastle, as the battle to land his signature hots up. Speaking recently, as per the report, Cakir has said that his goal is to “one day, play in the Premier League.”

Fulham, Leeds or Newcastle – which move is best for Cakir?

Right now, probably Fulham. Marek Rodak remains between the sticks but it is an area in which Fulham will want to improve as they prepare for the Premier League. Newcastle are also in the market for a goalkeeper.

They have been linked with the likes of Dean Henderson to replace Martin Dubravka. Leeds, though, are unlikely to be after a goalkeeper with Illan Meslier between the sticks – despite his mistake against Arsenal on Sunday.

However, Leeds may not be in the market for big-name signings anyway come the summer – with the Whites currently sitting in the relegation zone with three games to play.
