The Sheffield Wednesday forward has emerged as a possible alternative to Newcastle United’s Gayle as Fulham seek to add to their attack.

Fulham were credited with interest in Forestieri at the weekend, before they reportedly made a £15 million offer for Gayle.
Newcastle, though, are said to want closer to £18 million for the 26-year-old, with a replacement also needing to be found.

According to The Daily Mail, Forestieri could cost the Cottagers almost as much, with Wednesday holding out for £17 million for the Argentinian-born player, who has only started once in the Championship this season after alleged disciplinary issues.
But it is claimed that Fulham, whose manager Slavisa Jokanovic worked with Forestieri at Watford, had only been willing to offer £12 million.

Forestieri has finished each of his two full seasons at Hillsborough as Wednesday’s top scorer, but recent problems could tempt the Owls to cash in on the 27-year-old, who was linked with a move to Newcastle during last summer’s transfer window.
