Fulham are closing in on signing Lyon’s Dutch international defender Kenny Tete, according to Sky Sports.
With Scott Parker looking to bring in proven quality in a couple of key positions ahead of the Cottagers’ return to the Premier League, it’s no surprise a new right-back is high on his list of priorities.
After all, while Cyrus Christie and Denis Odoi are reliable options at Championship level, an upgrade is required if Fulham don’t want the right-hand side to be an obvious weak link.
Sky claims Tete, an Ajax academy graduate with 13 caps for the Netherlands, is set to sign three years after joining Lyon for £3.6 million.
Tete has fallen behind Leo Dubois in Rudi Garcia’s pecking order and failed to start any of the clashes with Juventus, Manchester City and Bayern Munich as Lyon reached the Champions League semi-finals.
Interestingly, Sky adds that Fulham are also expected to sign another right-back in the shape of former Chelsea youngster Ola Aina.
An attack-minded wideman who honed his defensive instincts during a spell at Torino, the Nigeria international will arrive on loan with an option to buy for £11 million.
With that in mind, Christie and Odoi both surely face an uncertain future with just a month of the transfer window to go.
