Fulham are closing in on the signing of Terence Kongolo for just £3 million after Sheffield United walked away from a deal due to concerns over his fitness, according to the Mail.

As you might imagine, given that the Blades were so concerned about a potential recurrence of the foot injury that has restricted him to just one appearance in 2020, Scott Parker’s Cottagers will be proceeding with caution.

With their defence proving to be Fulham’s Achilles Heel once again, the Premier League strugglers may be a little more open to taking a risk on a player who struggled to make his mark on a previous loan spell at Craven Cottage.

The Mail reports that talks are underway.

And Huddersfield are expected to accept just £3 million for a Dutch international they bought for a staggering £17.5 million two years ago.

Equally comfortable at centre-half or at left-back, Kongolo would give Parker plenty of cover at the back as well as competition for deadline day arrivals Tosin Adarabioyo and Joachim Andersen.

The Mail adds that Fulham have also turned their nose up at a loan offer from Nottingham Forest for their £15 million winger Anthony Knockaert.

The Frenchman was perhaps the most feared attacker in the Championship during his time under new Forest boss Chris Hughton at Brighton and Hove Albion, producing 15 goals and eight assists en route to promotion in 2016/17.

Knockaert has not made a single Premier League appearance for Fulham this season.
