Mesut Ozil is reportedly ‘hopeful’ that he can still save his career at Arsenal.
There were fresh doubts cast on Ozil’s long-term future in North London this week.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta left the former Germany international out of his Europa League squad, along with some other players.
Ozil hasn’t played for the Gunners since March and when you add everything up, it doesn’t look very positive for the 31-year-old.
But ESPN has reported that the former Real Madrid playmaker does believe that he can get back in Arteta’s good books.
Arteta has to name a revised Premier League squad by October 20 and if Ozil is on the list, it’ll be a big message from the head coach that he could revive his career at the Emirates Stadium.
In terms of talent and ability, there aren’t many in North London who match Ozil, but his attitude and application have been lacking, evident by the fact he didn’t kick a ball during Project Restart and still hasn’t.
It was reported last week that Arsenal wanted to terminate his £350,000-a-week contract, but ESPN added that no conversations have been held on that matter.
