Real Madrid signing Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli was never a go, it seems.
Originally, it was reported that Alli could be heading to the Bernabeu in the deal that’ll see Gareth Bale re-join Spurs soon.
But that rumour died a quick death and now a report from Spain reiterates the idea that Zinedine Zidane didn’t want him.
According to AS, Zidane was left ‘amused’ at the prospect of signing the Tottenham attacker.
The report claims that the Real boss was upset by comments Alli made after the Lilywhites beat his side 3-1 in North London during the 2017-18 campaign.
The 24-year-old scored twice against Zidane’s side that night, and he said afterwards: “I’m disappointed not to get the hat-trick, To be honest. I had a very good chance at the end on a Trippier ball.”
AS claims that the Frenchman was ‘annoyed’ by the remarks and therefore signing the England international was never considered a realistic idea.
The good news for Tottenham fans is that they look set to re-sign Bale, independent of Alli going anywhere, though the former MK Dons has been linked away nonetheless.
