A report emanating from France today claims that Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are lining up a loan swoop for Boro hitman Martin Braithwaite, with an option to buy at the end of the season, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.

The 26-year-old joined Middlesbrough from Toulouse in the summer of 2017 from Toulouse, but has failed to live up to his reputation on Teesside, scoring just five goals in 18 Championship appearances thus far.

With Boro currently sitting in eighth spot in the Championship table, and two points adrift of the play-off places, Tony Pulis will be determined to bolster his ranks at the Riverside this month, although he will have to sell first in order to buy.

L’Equipe claim that French side Bordeaux want to take Braithwaite on loan for the remained of the season, with an option to buy for €8 million (£7 million) in the summer.
