Free agent Fabio Borini is waiting for an offer from the Premier League after being linked with Aston Villa and West Ham United, according to Calciomercato.

Perhaps beggars can be choosers after all.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker has been without a club since his contract at AC Milan expired at the end of August.

But, clearly, Borini isn’t willing to accept any old offer.

Calciomercato reports that, such is his desire to play in England again, the 29-year-old has rejected moves to the Middle East, Turkey and the MLS.

Borini also turned his nose up at clubs in France and Spain – although it remains to be seen whether he’ll be handed the Premier League return he’s so clearly targeting.

Tuttomercatoweb reported in August that the one-time Swansea City talisman was courting interest from Aston Villa.

And while Dean Smith’s side shocked the footballing world by putting seven past reigning champions Liverpool on Sunday, there’s still space at Villa Park for a new attacking option.

Keinan Davis is far from prolific, while the stricken Wesley Moraes is still stuck on the sidelines.

Borini’s ability to play in a host of attacking positions, including centre-forward, on the flanks or even wing-back, should do his hopes of a new chance in England no harm at all.

West Ham were also linked, via Calciomercato, with David Moyes interested in reuniting with a man he coached during that miserable 2016/17 season at Sunderland.
