Branislav Ivanovic is keen to test himself in the Premier League again but, according to Bleacher Report, Fulham is a more likely destination than Everton at present.
At the age of 36, a man who lifted the English top-flight title three times at Chelsea could be set for a shock return to British soil.
Yet this Ivanovic is a very different player to the one who made a career out of bombing down the right flank at Stamford Bridge.
He has lost a yard or five of pace in the autumn of his career and captained Zenit to the Russian Premier League glory last season from a central defensive role.
And, with his contract expiring at the end of July, there is a very real possibility that Carlo Ancelotti could once again be sharing a dressing room with a familiar face when 2020/21 kicks off.
Ivanovic told Republika this week that he had ‘received an offer’ from Ancelotti’s Everton, with BleacherReport backing up suggestions that talks are underway.

But after Fulham sealed their return to the big time in Tuesday’s play-off final victory over Brentford, it seems that the Cottagers have suddenly jumped into pole position for the signature of a 105-time Serbia international.
As BleacherReport point out, Ivanovic would prefer a return to West London after nine years at Fulham’s near neighbours Chelsea.
The chance to work with Serbia team-mate Aleksandar Mitrovic at the Cottage could also be a major factor as Ivanovic weighs up his next, and potentially last, move.
