Free agent Oumar Niasse could be offered a lifeline by Turkish club Goztepe after turning his nose up at the chance to sign for Derby County and Middesbrough, according to Sporx.

Not for the first time a £13 million striker signed during the final few months of the Roberto Martinez era became persona non grata at Goodison Park.

Niasse played just 18 minutes of Premier League football under Carlo Ancelotti and there weren’t many Everton fans dabbing their eyes when news broke the Senegal international had been released in June.

According to TEAMtalk, the former Cardiff City and Hull loanee has rejected the chance to play Championship football despite Derby and Boro being keen to add a goalscorer to their ranks.

Both sides drew a blank this weekend, highlighting a worrying lack of firepower at Pride Park and the Riverside.

Bottom of the table Derby are the league’s lowest scorers with just five, while Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough, despite establishing themselves as play-off dark horses, have averaged less than a goal a game themselves.

But, according to reports on the continent, Niasse may be on his way to Turkey instead, six years after a spell at Akhisar Belediyespor.

Goztepe want a striker and, according to Sporx, coach Ilhan Palut is keen on the idea of working with the former Everton misfit.

Niasse is not the only free-agent striker on their radar, however. Former Manchester City and Swansea target man Wilfried Bony is also under consideration.
