According to a report in the Daily Mail, Aston Villa’s hopes of signing Tammy Abraham have now been totally crushed.

Villa had Abraham on loan last term, and the striker did a wonderful job at Villa Park.

Numerous Villa players suggested that they wanted Abraham to come back next term, and Dean Smith was initially interested in doing a deal for the striker with Chelsea.

The Daily Telegraph suggested that Villa would have been happy to pay £25 million for Abraham this summer.

However, it always seemed likely that Chelsea would keep the England under-21 international and it appears that Frank Lampard is a big fan already.

Lampard has reportedly been impressed by Abraham in Chelsea training, and he has sat down the forward to assure him that he will be given first-team chances at Stamford Bridge.

Villa have already moved on from Abraham, after paying big to sign Wesley to play up-front.

However, if they had any intention to make a late move for their former loanee then it seems that their hopes of signing him have been crushed.

Abraham could well be the man to lead the line for Chelsea next campaign, any hopes of a return to Villa are surely over.
