Crystal Palace have lost their opening three Premier League games, and it appears that their next game could be crucial for Frank De Boer.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Frank De Boer is in danger of becoming the first Premier League manager to be sacked if Crystal Palace fail to beat Burnley in their first game following the international break.

De Boer has endured a torrid start to life with the Eagles, with the side losing their first three top flight games and failing to score a single league goal in that time.

The Mirror reports that the Dutchman – who, of course, was only appointed during the summer – feared that he was facing the sack when he attended a meeting with the club’s owner on Friday.

But while he remains in a job currently, the Mirror adds that the hierarchy failed to provide any long-term assurances over his future, and thus, victory over Burnley appears to be a must if he wants to alleviate some of the pressure.

Of course, defeating the Clarets at Turf Moor will certainly be no easy task with Sean Dyche’s men starting the season extremely well – defeating Chelsea and claiming a draw against Tottenham in their opening three games.

And while they were defeated by West Brom in their only home game of the season so far, it was their home form that played such an integral role in keeping them in the Premier League last term as they picked up 33 of their 40 points at Turf Moor.

But with Palace facing a run of league games that consists of Southampton, Manchester City, Manchester United and then Chelsea after they take on Burnley, De Boer will know that if the Eagles do not pick up a positive result against Dyche’s men, he faces a considerable uphill task trying to pick up the points in their subsequent games to take some of the pressure off him.
