West Ham United have reportedly missed out on Sassuolo’s Francesco Acerbi.

According to Calciomercato, defender Francesco Acerbi ignored interest from Fulham and West Ham United in order to complete a move from Sassuolo to Lazio today.
West Ham have already added centre back Issa Diop this summer, but remain keen on further additions to their back line, with a whole host of defenders linked.
Armando Izzo, Craig Dawson, Alfie Mawson, Marlon Santos, Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Balbuena are just some of the centre backs being linked with West Ham, but another name has been added today.
Calciomercato report that West Ham wanted to sign Italian ace Francesco Acerbi from Sassuolo, but he ignored their interest – and Fulham’s – in order to sign for Lazio.
Acerbi went through his medical today, as seen above, ans will boost a Lazio defence which lost Stefan de Vrij to rivals Inter Milan on a free transfer earlier this summer.
The 30-year-old has been something of a nomad in Italy, turning out for the likes of Pavia, Renate, Reggina, Chievo and AC Milan, but found a home with Sassuolo in 2013, making more than 170 appearances for the club.

A strong, physically-imposing defender with two Italy caps to his name, Acerbi has been one of Serie A’s top centre backs in recent years, and will be staying that way having chosen Lazio over the Premier League.
The Rome-based club are paying just €12.3million in total for Acerbi – £11million – and that looks to be a bargain in the current transfer market, with West Ham missing out on a shrewd deal according to reports.
