The Rangers midfielder is said to want to quit Ibrox amid fears he won’t be pivotal to the plans of new boss Steven Gerrard.

Josh Windass of Rangers has a shot on goalduring the Pre-Seaso n Friendly between Rangers and Bury at Ibrox Stadium on July 6, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers midfielder Josh Windass wants to leave Ibrox and return to English football, with West Ham United, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion among the clubs keen, according to the Daily Mail (liveblog entry, 13:20).

The newspaper reports Windass fears he won’t be pivotal to the plans of new Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, who it is claimed will leave the 24-year-old on the bench for Thursday’s Europa League second round qualifier against NK Osijek.

Rangers are said to want £3 million for Windass, although the Daily Mail adds that offers are expected to be lower than that with rumours of a release clause rubbished.

Out of the frying pan…?

Josh Windass of Rangers looks dejected after the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on April 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Linked with the Yorkshire-born player at the start of the summer, Burnley are also listed alongside West Ham, Aston Villa and West Brom as a potential destination.

And while both Burnley and West Ham should posses the financial clout to see off Championship pair Aston Villa and West Brom, Windass could face similar issues at a Premier League club as he is said to have at Rangers.

Would West Ham / Aston Villa / West Brom be a good move for the Rangers man?
