The Newcastle United flop could be heading away from the North East.

The Chronicle have reported that up to four Belgian clubs would be willing to sign Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels – if he takes a wage cut.
Sels, who joined for a reported £5.5 million last summer, is set to be Rafael Benitez’s fourth-choice stopper behind Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Tim Krul if he stays in the North East beyond the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has not started a league game since September when Darlow displaced him as number one following a rough start to life in the Championship.
And although The Chronicle reports that four Belgian clubs are interested, it claims that his salary could prove to be a “stumbling block” in negotiations.
Anderlecht sporting director Herman Van Holsbeeck admitted his interest in the Newcastle man, speaking to HLN: “He’s a good goalkeeper, but a deal will be complicated.”

Newcastle are preparing for life back in the Premier League, after winning the Championship last term, and Benitez would be delighted to recoup some, if not all, of the £5.5 million spent on bringing him to St James’s Park.
