According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 10th September 2017; page 58), Walter Zenga could be in line to return to managing in England 11 months after his torrid spell with Wolves came to an end.

The Sun on Sunday reports that League One’s bottom side Oldham Athletic are seeking investment, and that potential investment could lead to question marks surrounding the future of current manager John Sheridan.

Interestingly, The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 10th September 2017; page 58) suggests that should the board decide to make a change – though the report certainly suggests that the board are yet to make a decision on Sheridan’s future – then Zenga is a name that they could consider.

The 57-year-old has been out of work since parting company with Wolves in October 2016, having previously been current owners Fosun’s first appointment since their takeover of the club that summer.

Zenga lasted just 87 days in the dug-out at Molineux, leaving the side 18th in the Championship having won just six games out of the first 17 and having lost four of their previous five games before he was dismissed.

And it appears that if a vacancy does come up at Oldham, Zenga – if he does subsequently get the job – faces an incredibly difficult task trying to enhance his reputation in England following his brief Wolves spell, as they have so far collected just one point from their opening six games and appear to be set for a relegation battle during the coming campaign unless something drastic happens.
