The former Newcastle United Under-23s boss Neil Redfearn is set to become the new head coach of Sheffield United Women, according to The Telegraph.
Redfearn stepped down from his Newcastle role in November 2019, little more than a year after his arrival on Tyneside.
And the 55-year-old’s new post will not be his first venture into the women’s game, after spells at Doncaster Belles and Liverpool.
Redfearn had previously managed at Championship level with Rotherham United and Leeds United, where he helped to develop a host of young talents including the newly-called-up England midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
And it is back to Yorkshire that the Dewsbury native will reportedly return.
Redfearn was introduced to the Sheffield United Women’s players earlier on Thursday and will have his appointment confirmed on Friday, according to The Telegraph.

He is in line to succeed Carla Ward at the Blades, who play at level two on the women’s league ladder, after her departure for Birmingham City Women.
It is claimed that Ward had initially wanted the former Newcastle coach as her number two at Sheffield United.
Redfearn was succeeded at Newcastle in February by the former Ipswich Town coach Chris Hogg, who continues to occupy his old position.
