Garry Monk is on the verge of being appointed by Middlesbrough, according to the Press Association.
Monk resigned from Leeds United a fortnight ago, stunning supporters at Elland Road.
Leeds had been keen to tie Monk down to an extended contract, but he could not agree terms with new owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Monk was expected to get a job in the Premier League and Leeds United fans will be even more unhappy if he does indeed take the job at Middlesbrough, who were relegated to the Championship last year.
He led Leeds to seventh place last season, their best finish in seven years.
Yet this was seen as somewhat of a disappointment with Leeds occupying a play-off spot between October and April before falling away at the end.
Middlesbrough were relegated from the Premier League after an underwhelming campaign, with Aitor Karanka fired with few weeks ago and caretaker Steve Agnew appointed.
