McCoist led Rangers to two promotions during his time at Ibrox and is said to have been close to taking over at QPR.
Queens Park Rangers were close to appointing former Glasgow Rangers manager Ally McCoist, according to Get West London.
McCoist, the legendary Rangers and Scotland striker, managed the Ibrox side for three years, during which he won two promotions and recorded a win percentage of 72.56.

However, after a bad start to the 2014-15 season, the 54-year-old resigned from his post and has remained out of management for approaching two years.
According to Get West London, McCoist almost returned to the dugout in December 2015, but was beaten to the QPR post by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
And although QPR are again on the lookout for a new boss, the report states that McCoist is yet to throw his hat into the ring this time around.

The R’s are said to have admitted defeat in their pursuit of Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett, while another target, Derby County assistant boss Chris Powell, is reportedly yet to show an interest in taking over at Loftus Road.
McCoist, who also played for Sunderland and Kilmarnock, is Rangers’ all-time leading scorer with 355.
The Belshill native also won 19 major honours as a player at Ibrox.
