The recent move to three at the back means Wimmer will be sticking around.

FC Koln have been informed by Tottenham Hotspur that they will not be getting their hands on Kevin Wimmer any time soon – according to Express.de

It was recently reported by Kicker that the German side are in need of a new defender, with Mergim Mavraj joining Hamburg recently.

Wimmer was reported as one option for the club, with Borussia Dortmund’s Mikel Merino another.

Now it seems that Wimmer will not be that man.

Express.de are reporting that Koln pushed for a potential loan deal and, after initially being open to the idea, Spurs soon pulled the plug with Wimmer happy to stay.

It comes with Mauricio Pochettino recently implementing a three-man defence on a regular basis, which has handed the Austrian more opportunities of playing regular first-team football.

The Austrian had an excellent first season with Spurs. He stepped up whilst Jan Vertonghen was injured in the second-half of the season. His performances impressed so much he was handed a new contract at Spurs.

But this summer saw Cameron Carter-Vickers usurp him in the Spurs pecking order and Wimmer has been struggling for football this term, with Eric Dier dropping back in the case of Toby Alderweireld’s injury.

But Wimmer recently played for the club in the 4-1 win against Watford and appears to be back in and around the first-team picture.
