Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon is reportedly set to replace ex-Rangers defender Henning Berg as manager of Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia.
According to the Scottish Sun, the Scottish manager is set to take over from Berg in Cyprus, who spent three seasons with Omonia and took the club to both the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League group stages.
However, despite making history with the Mediterranean side, Berg was sacked in late February after missing out on the Cypriot First Division Championship play-offs, with the division now split into a Championship and Relegation post-season similar to the Scottish Premiership.
With Berg now sacked, Lennon is now reportedly in set to take over the club for the second half of the season ahead of what will likely be a big campaign for Omonia in 2022/23 after making history in the last two years.
Omonia had never made a European group stage before the arrival of Berg, and if Lennon is appointed, the club will no doubt expect big things from the former Celtic manager, who won the SPL title five times during his two spells with the Hoops.
Indeed, appointing Lennon now gives the 50-year-old the chance to learn the league ahead of next season, where Omonia’s owners will no doubt be expecting a return to the top of the Cypriot First Division.
Lennon return to management with Omonia ideal after Celtic fallout

Lennon’s second-tenure with Celtic was a disaster that saw Rangers secure a historic 55th SPL title and reclaim the Scottish football throne, and for former Hoops manager, a move to a club like Omonia is ideal given the location of the club.
The Cypriot top-flight with Omonia will provide Lennon not with a return to football but also the opportunity to work away from the limelight of the British media, which can be taxing on any coach linked with Celtic.
