Former Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout is thriving at Fiorentina.

To say Jordan Veretout’s spell at Aston Villa was not a success would be an understatement.
By any definition, Veretout was a ‘flop’ for the Villans, failing to make an impact and making more appearances out on loan than he did for the club.
Villa sold the Frenchman to Fiorentina in 2016 for a fee reported by the Birmingham Mail to be £6.25 million.
Veretout has been thriving in Serie A, so much so that his value has reportedly doubled since.

Italian outlet Viola News report: “Fiorentina has paid seven million (Euros), now the Frenchman is worth more than double.
“His adventure in Italy has been a success, so much so that he has attracted the international spotlight of the market, especially from Spain and France.”
Veretout always appeared to have talent, but it did not click for him at Aston Villa.

His acquisition seemed poorly thought out, yet his lack of success was more a failure of coaching on the part of Tim Sherwood and Remi Garde.
If he had been convinced to stick around and play in the Championship he could have turned his fortunes at the club around.
Veretout has five Serie A goals this season and seven in all competitions, equalling the best of his career at Nantes, achieved the season before he signed with Villa.
