Former Arsenal and Crystal Palace striker Emmanuel Adebayor could join a club in the United Arab Emirates, according to a report from L’Equipe.

The Togo international has been a free agent since leaving Palace in the summer and has also seen a switch to French side Lyon fall through at the last minute.

But, the former Gunners forward will have to move quickly as the transfer deadline for clubs in the Arabian Gulf League closes on Thursday at midnight and L’Equipe claim that the 32-year-old is being lined up by Dubai based Al-Wasl, who currently lie fifth in the table after only three matches.

The newspaper also states that Adebayor has been training in Lome with his personal trainer to maintain his fitness whilst he looks for a new club.

Adebayor has previously played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs with Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur on his CV, along with Monaco, Metz and Palace.

The striker who is no doubt keen to return to football, is also the current captain of the Togo national team and holds records for the most caps and goals scored for the Sparrow Hawks, with 31 strikes in 66 caps for his country.

Whichever, side that Adebayor joins this season will have to do without the experienced striker, as the 32-year-old will hope to represent Togo at the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon, which start in January.
