According to the BBC, Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Scott McKenna one year after the Reds and Queens Park Rangers failed with offers for him.

Aberdeen’s McKenna has long been linked with a move to the Championship.

The Scottish Premiership side snubbed £3 million offers from Forest and QPR in August 2019 despite the player handing in a transfer request (Sunday Post).

McKenna remained with the Dons for the 2019-20 campaign. Manager Derek McInnes, however, suggested back in February that a summer move was possible.

Now, the BBC claim Forest are close to agreeing a fee for the Scot.

The Reds have started their Championship campaign with disappointing back-to-back defeats against QPR and last season’s playoff semi-finalists Cardiff City.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side sold Matty Cash to Aston Villa for around £16 million. The Reds have brought in several players this summer, but they aren’t stopping there.

The defence is seemingly a problem and McKenna could be the solution.

The 23-year-old is strong, quick and comfortable on the ball. Former Aberdeen boss Willie Miller believes he is tailor-made for the Championship and the Premier League (BBC).

Forest will be hoping they can get a deal done quickly. After their failed attempt last summer, it appears even more vital now that they bring McKenna to the City Ground.
